911 L

Now available from CPR Classic is this stunning 1968 Porsche 911L painted in its factory correct Tangerine (6809) over a black leather interior. The car was an original black plate California car until 2015 that has only covered a documented 51,500 miles since new. The car's black plates have been retained.

This 911L is all numbers-matching including engine, transmission and color combinations.

The car remained with its original owner for two years before being sold to its second, long-term owner who kept the car from 1970 through 2004. The car was properly placed in extended storage in 1974 and was kept hidden away for 30 years until 2004 when the second owner sold it to the third owner, who promptly commissioned a sympathetic restoration.

The sympathetic restoration of this 911L included a correct repaint in its factory Tangerine. The car has never suffered from rust damage and only very minimal bodywork was performed prior to the repaint. The respray was performed following a nearly complete disassembly which included a complete exterior disassembly and powertrain removal.

The car's undercarriage is all original with factory undercoating and a correct black finish throughout. The car has never had any metal work or panel replacement and it is clear from the undercarriage's presentation that this 911 never saw weather after restoration and was expertly stored and lovingly cared for.

During the restoration of this 911L, the car's matching numbers engine and gearbox were completely overhauled. The 901 transmission was fully rebuilt with new gears, sliders, and synchros. The matching-numbers engine was upgraded to 2.2 911S spec including 84mm Mahle pistons with 9.8:1 compression in Nikasil cylinders, 911 S camshafts, heads ported to 2.2 S specifications and an updated Carrera oil pump for more effective lubrication. The car was put on a dyno following final assembly and was reported to have made 198hp to the wheels. The car's original smog equipment has been removed but retained. It will be included in the sale of the car.

This 911L's interior is all-original excepting the front seats which have been re-stuffed and recovered. The car retains its original carpet, stunning original elephant hide door panels, original dash, headliner, un-restored gauges, fully functional original Blaupunkt radio and original glass all around including its factory original Sigla windshield.

This is without a doubt one of the lowest mileage early 911s we have ever acquired. The car's unbelievable preservation throughout is a very rare quality to find in long-hood 911s and the fact that the car has retained virtually all of its original parts since new is practically unheard of. If a beautifully preserved, honest long-hood 911 is what you are in search of, look no further. This car has originality, power, and charm to delight any enthusiast.
